What is the meaning of this?
I lost my way. No, I don’t mean that in the sense that I went missing. Nor did anyone tell me to “Get lost!” Still, I couldn’t find my way anymore, so I decided to leave. I went back to Germany and then France, thinking I’d find some answers to my past that could help me become a better version of myself.
Instead, I regressed tremendously. My mind fractured, and I felt like I had undone all the positive changes I had worked so hard to instill, in vain. Undone.
Can you recall a time when you were defeated? Or perhaps the correct tense would be, have you been defeated? Hopefully not. I will let my non-native tongue take the blame for the ambiguities of my mind.
But really, what is defeat in the first place?
In French, defeat comes from “défaire”. “Faire” means “to do”. So, defeat is your undoing. You’ve been undone.
If you could undo that one defeat, would you? I mean, what would that even entail?
